How to Find a Good Rabbit Veterinarian and Friendly

Pets are important in people’s lives, especially fragile pets such as rabbits. Care for the pets should be of high priority to ensure good health of the animal. Finding a good veterinary service is a good idea to ensure proper health for them.

They should be well trained and able to give a good diagnosis of your rabbit’s condition. Finding a good rabbit veterinarian should be responsible in their work and if they are not qualified, they should just refer you to another veterinary doctor.

There are three major steps in finding a good and friendly vet:

1. Search the names of good vets in the internet.

The process of finding a good rabbit vet starts by checking the Rabbit Society’s list of vets. You can check and see the location of the closest vet near your own location.

You can also search of them on Google and your interest should be based on the exotic kind of vets since such kind deal with both rabbits and rodents. You can list them in order of experience or reviews and get their contact information.

2. Seek references from randomly selected vets.

Next step is to ask the vets if they can assist your case or refer you to another vet that can assist you in your case. If a similar name keeps popping up then you can visit that same bunny vet to get acquainted with his/her services.

If this does not happen then the process can be repeated until a suitable bunny vet is found. You can ask for reference from other vets found on the Google search. List them at random and get on with the process.

3. Choose the best vet you have considered.

At this point you will have another list of referred vets that you can choose from, furthermore they can be near your location or at a suitable mile radius that. The next step is to contact the vet that you consider to be the best out of the list you have.

You can let them know about your case and ask if they can refer you to another veterinary. Get their information so that they can be easily reachable and you can get a hold of them if anything is wrong with your pet rabbit.

What you should do

• Ask questions

The next step is to get well acquainted with the vet services and know their history with rabbits over the past years.

Ask several questions. Know the number of rabbits they have treated successfully, the kind of treatments they would recommend for flee infections, if they are a member of the Rabbit Society, what kind of diet they would recommend for the bunny, and other questions you might think of.

This is to help you know if they are well experienced or not.

What you should not do

• Don’t make assumptions

You might be tempted to choose the veterinary based on factors such as closeness to your home, or their experience with 4-H clubs and assume that they are experienced with house rabbits.

Such assumptions can cause you a great deal of getting poor services that can cost you a lot of trouble, or even make the situation worse. Getting a vet that can insure your rabbit is also a better option.
